LaserActive Demo Discs, Anime LD-Boxes, Video Disc Cartridges

Ran across a couple 20cm demonstration laserdiscs for Pioneer Laseractive products. These were promotional items that were used to show off hardware and software titles for use on the system. This first disc showcased all the add on control packs and contains some technical information about the LD format. Here are some screen shots I hastily took with my camera.

Also auctioning off a bunch of LaserActive titles on Ebay this week: Pyramid Patrol, Manhattan Requiem, Triad Stone, I Will: The Story of London, Vajra, Hyperion, Dora Dora Paradise, and Quiz Econosaurus. Also have some MSX laserdiscs in the mix: Star Fighters, Astron Belt, and Nihonkai Daikaisen: Umi Yukaba.

Was able to pick up over 100 VHD video disc titles as well and took the opportunity to watch Teen Wolf and The Graduate. Cool to see them for the first time on the old VHD player - not on fancy-schmancy DVD. Auctioning a few titles off on Ebay and keeping some others in stock.

Lastly, got around to taking some pictures of some of the anime/tokusatsu LD-Boxes from the recent monster haul. Nice Kikaida Triplet Box series, Idion, Magma Taishi, Ultraman, Lupin the 3rd, Wacky Races, and Guyferd. The LD boxes are always so beautifully designed and usually have large booklets and other throw-ins like telephone cards or audio CDs. Had some Glenn Gould LD-Boxes in there too!

Anime and Tokusatsu LD Boxes, Music, Repaired Victor VHD Player

Plowing through the hundreds of LDs and LD boxes slowly but surely. The condition of the latest haul is just amazing, most of it looks like it came right out of the factory. Here's some of the anime and tokusatsu items that I was able to take pictures of.

Lastly I got an old Victor VHD player in stock this week. The model is HD-V1. I think the HD-V1 was the higher end model of the VHD machines that Victor released. When this one arrived, it would attempt to read discs, and then get hung up and stop trying. Opening up the case, I saw that everything was spinning and moving properly, but after a few seconds, it would just stop and the eject button would light up. So I found a special screw on an electronic panel that had some little tooth-like contacts on it. These were not quite in contact with the metal post that they were supposed to be touching, so after twisting the screw around, contact was made again and the video displayed properly. I also took the time to clean the metal post off with some rubbing alcohol - figured it couldn't hurt. Here's a video of the machine being fixed.

Victor VHD HD-8900 System, 3D Accessories, Street Trash, Let Sleeping Corpses Lie...

The last round of auctions for the year and it's a good one. First time for me to see a fully functioning 3-D VHD system on Ebay. Got real lucky and found this complete system with some 3-D cartridges and the 3-D scope. 25+ years old but looking good! Also have some rare horror LDs including Peter Jackson's Street Trash, Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, Troll, and some Friday the 13th discs! That's it for the year but Goodsquid should be back in January!
